Anti-Taco Truck law declared unconstitutional in Los Angeles County

This just in from Phil Greenwald, the attorney representing the taco trucks in unincorporated LA County hit by the ordinance from earlier this year:
Hi:
This morning in Department 1 of the Los Angeles Superior Court in the East Los Angeles Court House, the Hon. Dennis A. Aichroth ruled on a motion that I filed.
The motion (called a “demurrer”) asked the Court to declare Los Angeles County Code Section 7.62.070 “unconstitutional” and thereby render it unenforceable.
This is the so called “time limit ordinance” which prohibited street vendors (e.g., Taco Truck Operators) from: (1)remaining at one place more than one hour (in a commercial zone) or (2) for more than one half hour (in a residential zone) and (3) prohibiting them from returning to the previous location at which they had been selling, or (4) within one half mile of the previous location in any THREE HOUR PERIOD.
The Judge accepted my arguments notwithstanding the opposition filed by the District Attorney’s Office. The Judge ruled the ordinance “unconstitutional.”
Yea! We won!

I am a Chicana and always grew up with good Mexican food. It pisses me off when I see our legislators who supposedly are looking after our welfare take away the very things we love and are a part of our culture.
The other thing is when we are hungry we have to get into our cars drive down to where we want to eat and sometimes pay to park. Using gas, money for parking and now your insurance rates go up when you use to much milage. Eat at some restaurants that theri food sucks because it’s closer. Sure you can make your own lunch but sometimes you want something hot to eat.
The best way to stop this bullshit is to hit them where it hurts. VOTING start sending emails to Gloria Molina’s office and tell them that you are telliing all your friends and family to stop voting for these a——s unless they listen to our demands. We have the power! You’ll be surprized at how quickly they listen to you then.
I already started an email list to stop voting for these supervisors or congresspeople because they are not listening to our needs. We are not asking for anything that is too much. Our rights and our freedom is taken away more and more and we do nothing.
I just called Gloria Molina’s office and told her about the 100 family members living in her districit. Explained that she wasn’t looking after our welfare and we were talking about not voting for her. Boy they sure got interested then. Remember she gets her bread and butter from us!!! Send them all emails start by sending them to all your friends and family! Ask them to call or email Gloria Molina and the others too!

2. Mayor Villaraigosa
3. Gloria Romero
4. Hilda Solis
Pick other latinos in their place we need new blood!
